Let's see...I am an artist who writes, or a writer who draws, depending on what I'm working on. I write a monthly column titled Artistic License, for the Collector Times Online. I have done a little indy comic work (very little) and I've been kicking around story ideas in my head and with anyone who'll listen, for 20+ years.
I am a comic book reader, not a collector, as I don't actively preserve my comics. I read a lot of science fiction, and have recently been indulging in old SF radio programs. I loved the whole run of Dimension X, a program that ran adaptations of many SF short stories and novellas from some of the best writers in the field.
I'm working on a couple of things, at the moment. One is my ongoing HeroBlog, which is the blog of Amp, a young super-hero living in Pinnacle City. He has gone from being a newbie all the way to membership in the premier super-team of his world, Legacy.
The other thing is going to be an online, ongoing comic strip called Ad Astra, which is set in the future of my HeroBlog universe. Ad Astra is basically my take on the concept of the Legion of Super-Heroes, which is my all-time favorite series. Like the Legion, it's a team of young supers fighting evil and righting wrongs, etc. Unlike the Legion, it's based around a mobile interstellar university, where kids from all cultures, human or otherwise, can meet and learn to work together. No date set for the launch of Ad Astra, but it will be as soon as I can work out the details and get some art done.
My monthly column, Artistic License, is where I excercise my design muscles and redesign costumes for comic book characters. I'm always looking for ideas to run in the column, so feel free to make suggestions.
